adventures in rolling

Look at me!  I can touch my feet to my face and be happy about it!

Baby can now roll from her back to her tummy.  We pulled out the video camera several times this weekend with intentions to catch it and post it for all to see... but this little girl must be camera shy.  She'd only show off when the camera was put up....  When out, she'd just give us the duh look.  So we have several minutes of duh looks on video instead of rolls.  It won't be long before she's rolling all over the place.

She's also back to babbling and jabbering at us.  She'd stopped for a couple of weeks.  I'm thinking I read somewhere that verbal skills slow down when they learn new physical tricks, like rolling.  But she's back to jabbering at us, and it cracks us up every time.

Meanwhile, we're still reading to her every day.  I work with some new moms who don't read to their babies.  I'm not going to judge their parenting or reading or whatever; we might very well be in Dr. Seuss overkill, but it certainly can't hurt.  Besides, she likes it - so we do it.

We've started diagraming sentences with her.  She's just not caught on to infinitive phrases yet, and sometimes adverbs trip her up.  We keep telling her that she'll get it in time, but she's frustrated with it.  Not as frustrated as she is with Venn diagrams... but frustrated all the same.

Otherwise we're all doing okay.  The Hater is enjoying his vacation.  Work is going okay with me.  We celebrated our sixth anniversary this past weekend.  Our lives revolve around the baby, which is how it should be.  And that's how things are playing out for us ... for now.

Singing to them is fun. I used to walk the hall with her, singing "Go to sleep, go to sleep, and then sleep until morning!"

Not that it worked....
